Cementation broke down in a short time and now the Municipality has decided to pave the street with colored asphalt. The tradesman and shopkeepers of the street are already experiencing economic hardships and voiced that their business is at a complete standstill due to work undertaken in the street.
Same mistakes are continuing
While the shopkeepers suffer in İzzet Baysal Street where the mistakes of three years ago are repeated again, it is also expressed that choosing autumn for this endeavor is also a huge mistake. Many shopkeepers criticized the Municipality for the renewed work and said that “We expressed the same things three years ago but nobody listened to us. They are doing the same mistake again. They are trying to cover a mistake yet with another one. At least, this work could have been undertaken section by section. Work on the other section could have started after completing one part so that not all shopkeepers and tradesmen in the street would have been victimized. Now, we cannot even open our doors because of the dust. Soon it will rain and we won’t be able to step of our shops because of the mud. If the goal was to finish the shopkeepers off, it could only be done this way”.
